Psychiatric
medicine today is a vast field that
incorporates many facets of the
body and mind. There are a wide
variety of medications and psychotherapy
that can benefit a wide variety
of issues ranging from mood disorders
such as depression and bipolar disorder
to anxiety, phobias, eating challenges
and attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder.
In addition, there are a host of
issues that arise when people are
challenged by medical problems,
family conflict, difficult childhood
experiences, and when our overall
sense of Self is undermined by the
forces of our day to day. It is
vital to explore what medications
are helpful and what psychotherapies
can be helpful to address these
challenges. It can also be helpful
to at least contemplate some simple
holistic and preventive approaches
and suggestions that can add another
dimension to treatment.
